In 1991, I was just 21 years and was rubbing shoulders with mentors like Mr. K Padmanabhaiah & Dr. P. Navin Kumar. In 1992, through Dr. P Navin Kumar, Mr. K Padmanabhaiah planted a tree sapling. 4 years later coincidentally, at around 4:30 pm I saw a tall lanky figure entering Colaba woods. It was Mr. K Padmanabhaiah who had come to check if his sapling was still there. During those 4 years, I took regular rounds and saw that each sapling was maintained by the gardener. I have been blessed to be trained by great leaders like Dr. P Navin Kumar and K Padmanabhaiah. My respects and salutes to both of them. A note about Mr. K. Padmanabhaiah (b. 1938) is a retired Indian civil servant and a former Home Secretary of India. He is the chairman of the Court of Governors of the Administrative Staff College of India and has headed many government committees such as the Committee on Police Reforms (2000), the Committee on Reorganization of the Services Selection Board, and the Committee to Review the working of National Institute of Urban Management.
